Player Ratings: Besiktas 1-2 CSKA Moscow
The Russians are joining the big boys in the knock-out stages after a late win in Istanbul. Goal.com rates the players on show in Turkey...
BESIKTAS
Rustu Recber: 6 - The veteran tried a party piece in the second half but came off badly instead colliding with the shin of Rahimic when he attempted a dummy which left him bleeding heavily. Unable to do anything about Krasic's terrific goal.
Ibraham Kas: 6.5 - Besiktas were well organised and the full back had the better of Dzagoev whom he muscled off the ball on more than one occasion.
Sivok: 6.5 - Confident and assured in the role of centre half he blocked several chances and formed a good partnership with Ferrari.
Ferrari 7 - Commanding in the air he won the 50/50s and attacked set pieces with menace. Unlucky not to score with one such effort in the second half.
Ibrahim Uzulmez: 7 - Followed Krasic around all night having been given the task of stopping the Serbian dangerman. Chased him everywhere and couldn't be accused of a lack of effort.
Ibraham Toraman: 6.5 - Sat in front of the back four and rarely left his position as his side set out to frustrate Krasic from the off.
Ernst: 6.5 - One of Besiktas' two Germans, Ernst tried his luck from range with two shots in the first half. Worked hard for his side even if his shooting let him down.
Fink: 7 - Played a beautiful defence splitting pass through to Tello in the first half which deserved better. Linked up well with his compatriot Ernst in an average Turkish side.
Dag: 6 - Didn't see enough of the ball and was replaced by the much more effective Nihat.
Tello: 5.5 - Missed a sitter in the 12th minute and never seemed to recover from it. Fired in a succession of frankly dreadful corner kicks before being replaced in the dying moments.
Bobo: 6.5 - Took his goal well but that aside he struggled in a side which is short on goals.
Substitutes
Kahveci: 6 - On for 20 minutes and didn't do much more than the man he replaced Dag.
Nihat: 7.5 - Was a livewire as soon as he came on and tested Akinfeev with three good attempts. Pity he didn't start the game.
Nobre: N/A
CSKA MOSCOW
Akinfeev: 6.5 - He was alert to the threat of Nihat late on having had a relatively quiet night between the sticks.
Schenikov: 6 - Neat and tidy he was assured at left back.
V. Berezutski 7 - With his brother suspended for failing a dope test it was left to Vasili to lead the defence and he did so commandingly in Leonid Slutsky's makeshift outfit.
Semberas: 7 - Replaced the suspended Aleksei Berezutski in defence he did his job at the back and played the killer ball to Krasic for the Russians opener.
Odiah: 6.5 - Replaced the suspended Sergey Ignashevich the Nigerian got forward often and sent in several good crosses when his side were committing numbers forward.
Krasic: 8.5 - Took his goal brilliantly in the first half. There was never an element of doubt in his mind when he went one-on-one with Rustu and curled his effort past the stopper with ease. Menacing whenever he got on the ball the Serb will be the star asset for the Russians in the knock out stages. That is, IF they can hang onto him.
Aldonin: 7 - Capped a superb night for his side with the winning goal in the closing moments. Wasted some free kicks but can be excused thanks to his deadly finish at the death.
Rahimic: 6.5 - Sprayed the ball around with comfort in the centre of the park. Got involved in a daft incident with Rustu when the keeper tried to trick him only to see Rahimic's shin collide with his face. Ouch!
Mamaev: 6 - Picked up a silly booking in the first half when he pulled Fink's shirt right in front of the referee. Should have settled matters in the 92nd minute when he was clean through on goal only to rasp his effort into the side netting.
Necid: 6 - Had two glorious chances in the first half and both times he made the wrong choice blasting one opportunity over when he had options and trying to pick out a team-mate when it would have been better to go alone. Fired a decent shot at Rustu in the second half which brings his mark up a bit.
Dzagoev: 5.5 - The striker wasn't at the races at all in Turkey. Anonymous for most of the game he failed to get to grips with Sivok and Ferrari who marked him out of the game.
Substitutes
Oliseh: 6 - Blasted a glorious chance over from only five yards out in the last moments. Could have cost his side if events in Germany hadn't gone their way before Aldonin's late winner.
