Sevilla kept within touching distance of the leaders with a 2-1 win at Tenerife, and Manolo Jimenez saw plenty of encouraging signs.

Speaking to Marca after the match, he said, "We were playing an opponent with a lot of will and determination."

"We were playing very well until we went 2-0 up, but you can never relax against a team like Tenerife. They caused us serious problems once they scored.

"If they continue like this, they will have no problems in staying up."

Sevilla are currently in third place, three points behind leaders Real Madrid.
