The Portuguese defender is happy to stay and fight for a first-team place at the Bridge...
Paulo Ferreira has stated his intention to stay and fight for a first-team place at Chelsea after words of comfort from manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The Portuguese defender can play at both right and left-back but found it hard to dislodge Jose Bosingwa and Ashley Cole from the full-back positions last season.
However, he intends to stay with the Blues, and told Sky Sports, "It was important to me that the manager rated me.
"Ancelotti has told me that he has confidence in me and I will be part of his plans.
"I want to forget last season because I am focusing on being fit for the start of this season and I believe I will be at my best by September.
"No-one can doubt my commitment, I will always give 100 per cent, but if you're not 100 per cent then you can't help the team and that was my problem last season."
Ferreira was one of Jose Mourinho's first signings for Chelsea in 2004, after the defender had helped 'the Special One's' Porto win the Champions League.
