Nicolas Anelka: Carlo Ancelotti Would Be a Fantastic Successor To Guus Hiddink At Chelsea
The France international striker says he believes the Milan head coach would do a good job if he were to take over at Stamford Bridge...
Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka has lent his support to speculation linking Milan head coach Carlo Ancelotti with the managerial position at Stamford Bridge.
Current Blues boss Guus Hiddink has insisted, on several occasions, that he will leave the west London club at the end of the season to focus solely on the Russian national team.
The France international has heaped praise on the Dutch tactician for guiding Chelsea to the FA Cup final, and leading them to a goalless draw in the Champions League semi-final first leg away at Barcelona.
The 30-year-old is of the opinion that if anybody is capable of carrying on from where Hiddink will finish this summer, it is Carlo Ancelotti.
"I don't know him but I think he's a very good manager so, yeah, of course," The Sun quotes Anelka as responding to being asked whether the Italian would be a worthy replacement for Hiddink.
"Hiddink did great. He changed something, not significantly, but he's why we are here today.
"I think he will leave because this is what he said already. It's too late.
"When he signed, he knew he wanted to stay four months and wanted to leave to stay with the national team.
"I think he wants to do a good job before he leaves and we have to respect that."
