These occassions are often hyped up by the print and broadcast media and have, at times, failed to deliver on the field of play as both sides battle for the draw. However, there is sufficient motivation for both clubs to slug it out for maximum points.

Arsenal know that any more dropped points at this early stage in the season could effectively kill off their title ambitions, and a win would resurrect hope.

Chelsea though will want to be the side that can end the Gunners' crowning dreams, and they will also be able to exert the pressure on co-league leaders Liverpool (who kick off on Monday evening) if they get the win on Sunday.

With this in mind, both managers will be expected to pack a midfield that is capable of not only winning balls, but building around players with potent attacking fluency.

A flexible 4-5-1 is the likeliest formation. Arsenal can alter this into a 4-4-2 for when they go forward whereas Chelsea have brought in a bastardisation of the continental 4-2-3-1; by going forward with a 4-1-4-1.
