Ramos Sacked As Spurs Sink Into Crisis
Juande Ramos is no longer manager of Tottenham Hotspur and Gus Poyet along with sporting director Damien Comolli have also been dismissed...
With the London club sitting firmly bottom of the Premier League table without a win all season, the Tottenham paymasters have apparently deemed it time to swing the axe in dramatic fashion.
"The Club can announce that Damien Comolli, Sporting Director, Juande Ramos, Head Coach and First Team Coaches, Marcos Alvarez and Gus Poyet, have left the Club, with immediate effect. We wish them well," read a statement on the club's official website.
"Clive Allen, Development Squad Coach, and Alex Inglethorpe, Youth Team Manager, will take charge for Sunday's League match against Bolton.
"An announcement will be made on First Team coaching staff in due course."
Ramos thus spent just 363 days in charge at White Hart Lane after leaving Sevilla for a lucrative deal at the London side.
He arrived with weighty expectations on his shoulders after guiding the Andalusian club to two UEFA Cup titles, as well as Champions League qualification.
By lifting the Carling Cup in his first season in charge he won plaudits from the Lilywhites faithful, but a dreadful start to the current campaign has apparently outweighed his earlier achievements.
Alvarez and Poyet leave along with their manager, while sporting director Damien Comolli has been relieved of his duties after a summer in which Luka Modric came in and Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane left the side.
