Benayoun: We'll Take The Draw
Israel star Yossi Benayoun admitted the 2-2 tie was not the result that they would have been happy about going in, but suggested it was a boost for morale considering the circumstances.
A last minute goal by Ben Sahar salvaged Israel a dramatic point much to the relief of the vociferous home crowd. Goals by Hakan Yakin and Blaise N'Kufo had put the visiting Swiss well on the way to giving Ottmar Hitzfeld a resounding success to start his tenure, but a 73rd minute equaliser by Benayoun followed by Sahar's 92nd minute equalizer meant that honours were even in the end.
"If you had told me before the match it would be a tie, I of course wouldn't have been happy," Benayoun said. "But the way the match developed, of course, to come back from 2-0 I think you have to give credit to the players."
Israel will now be looking to take maximum points from their trip to face Moldova on Wednesday, who themselves were upset 2-1 by Latvia on Saturday.
