Valencia Say 'No' To Late Villa Charge
According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Real Madrid's transfer market movements are not completely over, for the blancos are still trying their utmost to land Valencia star David Villa right at the close of the window. However, they're destined to fail...
Marca contends that Madrid have been attempting to make contact with Los Che throughout the evening over Villa in a last-ditch attempt to land a major summer transfer. With coach Bernd Schuster apparently wishing for another striker to round out his squad, Villa tops the shopping list. But despite some big-money offers circulating, Valencia have repeatedly said 'no' to the advances of the capital club.
New president Vicente Soriano pledged earlier in the month that Villa and his midfield counterpart David Silva would not be sold at any cost, allowing recently-appointed coach Unai Emery to build his squad around the pair.
This policy, according to vice-president of sports Fernando Gómez, has not and will not change this evening.
Nonetheless Manchester City are also said to be beating down the Mestalla door, and as they say, it isn't over until it's over.
