New Milan defender and Swiss international Philippe Senderos is delighted with Milan being drawn against FC Zurich in the UEFA Cup...
The defender recently joined the Rossoneri on loan from Arsenal, after the north London club acquired Mikael Silvestre, and is looking forward to playing Zurich from his native Switzerland.
"It will be a pleasure for me to be able to go to Switzerland with my club and show my ability to the public there," explained the centre-back.
The player is a constant for the Swiss national team, and played in all three of his country's games at Euro 2008.
However, Senderos believes that Milan should be cautious: "Zurich won consecutive league titles two seasons ago and have a lot of good youngsters, so we will have to be careful."
The Swiss outfit knocked another Italian side of the competition last year, conquering Empoli over two legs.
Milan brought in the
former Servette player to assist in shoring up their shaky and fragile
backline. Currently Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, and Kakha Kaladze
are all struggling with injury worries. Thus, Senderos could deputize
against Bologna on Sunday afternoon at the San Siro.
