Cáceres Rejoins Barça Squad

Barcelona’s Uruguayan defender Martín Cáceres has rejoined the squad for normal training after recovering from a muscle pull late last week.

The new summer signing from Recreativo Huelva had to miss Barcelona’s official presentation game against Boca Juniors in the Trofeo Joan Gamper last weekend after limping off training the day before with a muscle strain on his thigh.

Although the extent of the injury was unclear at the time, the 21 year old appears to have made a speedy recovery when he rejoined the watered-down Barcelona squad in a normal training session on Wednesday.

Coach Pep Guardiola, like most of the big clubs in Europe, only had a select few number of players to work with due to various International commitments. But he would have been glad to see the quick return of Cáceres.

Together with Víctor Váldes, Pinto, Abidal, Sylvinho, Víctor Sánchez, Eto’o and Pedrito, the eight completed the training session focusing on speed, strength, stamina.

Another new defensive signing, rightback Daniel Alves, is the only player from the main squad to be sidelined with injury. He is expected to be out for at least another week with a sprained shoulder.
