The 23 year old shot stopper’s agent Aitor Montero has confirmed that his client has signed for Valencia on a four year contract but did not disclose the finer details or the exact transfer fee.

The former Internacional goalkeeper is still in Beijing on Olympic duty with Brazil but he is expected to head straight to Spanish shores after contesting the bronze medal match against Belgium on Friday to undergo his medicals before putting pen to paper.

Montero spoke on behalf of his client: “Renan is very excited at the knowledge that he has signed for Valencia. It is very important for him and the signing comes at a good time for him personally.”

“He wants to make the journey across to Europe with a big club, which is the dream of all footballers outside of the continent,” added Montero.

Renan had kept a clean sheet for Brazil after four games in the Olympics but leaked in three goals against arch nemesis Argentina overnight in the semi-finals.
