Gutierrez: Tevez The Main Threat
Newcastle United defender Jonas Gutierrez believes Carlos Tevez will pose the biggest threat to his side in the teams’ opening Premier League clash on Sunday.
The Magpies travel to Old Trafford as the underdogs, with Kevin Keegan looking to avenge the 5-1 hammering Sir Alex Ferguson’s men handed to their opponents in the last head-to-head.
With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Anderson missing, it would seem that Newcastle may not have a better chance of securing a victory over the league champions this season, but Gutierrez believes United, and Tevez in particular, will be as strong as ever.
"I am friends with Carlos and we will talk this week before the game," he told nufcTV.
"He's a very good player and our defenders will have to pay a lot of attention because he can score a goal at any moment.
"There are many good players in the Manchester United team but Carlos is playing very well and had a great season last time."
It is 16 matches since the visitors recorded a win against Ferguson’s outfit, and with Keegan struggling to recruit the players he targeted this summer, that run looks set to continue.
