Gomez Insists Villa And Silva Will Stay Put
Fernando Gomez, the vice-president of Valencia, affirmed that it is almost certain that David Villa and David Silva will remain at the club...
After individual talks with the agents of both players on Wednesday, Fernando Gomez admitted that Valencia have yet to come to an agreement over the renovation of both contracts, but are still hopeful of achieving this.
The vice-president explained that it is just a matter of time before they come to an agreement, and that it is more than likely that both players will play their club football at the Mestalla next season.
Gomez affirmed that the club want to retain both players and that "both of them are close to continuing" although negotiations must continue. Both Villa and Silva intend to stay at the club for at-least one more season.
"The agent of Villa was here this afternoon, and it is the same situation that we find with Silva. We want the player to stay here and tomorrow negotiations will continue," Gomez stated.
Valencia, who finished in a disappointing tenth position last season, have kept the bulk of that same squad, but with Unai Emery now at the helm they are hoping to return to former glory. Much of this depends on whether they will be able to hold onto both of their Spanish internationals.
