Drogba Set For Contract Sit-Down
Didier Drogba has been described as 'want-away' this summer, but it now appears that the club want him to stay and the player will sit down for contract talks imminently...
Didier Drogba has been strongly linked to follow former gaffer Jose Mourinho to Inter this summer, with a host of other top clubs also said to be monitoring the situation.
However, L'Equipe reports that the Ivorian hitman is feeling settled enough under new Stamford Bridge boss Luiz Felipe Scolari to enter contract talks.
The flamboyant 30-year-old's current deal doesn't run out until 2010, but Drogba isn't worried about expiry dates. The striker is said to be willing to commit his long-term future to the club if fresh terms are put on the table.
Blues cheif executive Peter Kenyon has thrown weight behind the reports, today insisting that Drogba will be retained by the club, despite the recent rumours.
Kenyon insisted: "There is no question that any deal will be done with regards to Didier.
Adding that Drogba's knee injury is forcing him to keep a low profile, Kenyon added: "Didier is in rehab and will continue to be a Chelsea player. I think we can squash that one."
