The goalkeeper has had an outstanding tournament and could not describe his feelings when the whistle sounded to start some incredible celebrations.
Fernando Torres scored the only goal of a game in which Casillas did not have won save to make, but the custodian had earned praise for his performances in previous encounters.
"I have achieved one of my professional ambitions. I wanted to win something with the national team after playing so many games with them," Casillas explained.
"We have won in the end and I am still not really conscious of what we have achieved, but when the referee blew the whistle the feeling of happiness was incredible.
"There were so many emotions, so many feelings, but now things are calmer and I still cannot describe how I am feeling."
Casillas reiterated that the current Furia Roja set-up was one of the most unified that he had been involved in and stated that it was crucial to the team's success.
"The unity in the squad was superb. We know that this Spain squad is united and that was important because now it is great fun," he added.
