Arsenal and Manchester United have both been scouting Omonoia Nicosia youngster Demetris Christofi, and with the club willing to sell, a move could be imminent...The 19-year-old broke the Cypriot transfer record when he moved from Enosis Neon Paralimni to Omonoia just last month for €1 million.
Omonoia could more than triple their money with a figure of £3 million being rumoured for the left-footed forward, who has only just joined up with his new team for pre-season training.
The club has revealed there has been no official contact or offer made for the player from any club, but that they would not stand in his way of moving abroad and onto bigger things, using the money generated from the transfer to rebuild their squad.
“We will not stand in his way," declared the club's president. "We will use the money to strengthen the team for the start of the new season. However nothing official has been received."
Arsenal and Manchester United, along with Everton, battled it out for Cardiff City youngster Aaron Ramsey earlier this month, with the Gunners pulling out the most stops to land their man in the end.
