Ramos: I Want To Face Ronaldo In The Final
Sergio Ramos has said that he would relish the prospect of taking on Cristiano Ronaldo in the final of the European Championships if Spain and Portugal reach that far.
The Real Madrid defender stated that he was not keen to talk about any possible transfer of the Manchester United superstar, although he did claim that he would be welcome at the Bernabéu.
Instead, Ramos outlined his thoughts on the Portuguese star and admitted that while he has not played against him yet, he has considered how he would stop Ronaldo from playing.
"We are all focussed on the national team and prefer not to speak about our clubs," Ramos told AS. "I would like to play against him in a Spain-Portugal final though. That would be a dream I would take right now.
"The great players shine in the great events and that is why I am looking forward to facing players of the level of Ronaldo.
"I have never played against him before. From television is it difficult to say what type of player he is because he such mobility, explosive pace and right now is the best player in the world.
"I have considered how I would mark him and all I know is that I would have to be on top of him and try to stop him being able to turn with the ball."
Finally, Ramos admitted that Madrid should have an interest in all the great players in the game and stated that he would be pleased if a deal for Ronaldo was finally pushed through.
"It would be great. We are not stupid, we always want the best players in the team and I hope that he can come," he added.
