Alberto Gilardino has been in superb touch for Fiorentina this season, as he has managed to rediscover the form that saw him move from Parma to Milan in 2005, for an estimated fee of around €24 million.

He has been one of the Serie A’s most influential players this term, and in addition to this, he made his mark in the UEFA Champions League with the club, despite the Viola being already eliminated from the competition.

Gila scored on four occasions for the Italians, with three of them coming against Lyon, a side that have expressed interest in the hitman as a result.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, two goals at the Stade de Gerland and one goal in Florence against the French Champions was enough for Lyon to express their admiration for the 26-year-old striker.

The club were rumoured to be interested in the Italian international at the commencement of the season, however the player opted to sign for Fiorentina, in a move that has revitalised his career.

Despite this though, Lyon are reportedly set to offer the Viola a sum of around €25 million, which could prove to be too good to decline for the Florentine club.

If these reports are said to be true, then expect further developments to take place in the coming days, as we near the commencement of the January transfer window.
