Ashley Cole aims to enter the history books by becoming one of only a handful of players to win the FA Cup on five separate occassions.

The 28-year-old won the world's oldest association football competition three times with Arsenal, in 2002, 2003 and 2005, and has so far lifted the trophy once with Chelsea, in 2007.

The England international defender has the opportunity to earn a fifth winners medal when the Blues play Everton at Wembley on Saturday.

Only three players have ever achieved the feat and the last to do so was Blackburn Rovers' Jimmy Forest in 1891, so it is something that Cole is taking very seriously.

"It would be a great milestone if I could get it," Cole is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"I would be honoured to have the record. It's a great trophy to win and I would be delighted to win it five times."

Cole also feels that while winning the FA Cup will not banish the memory of late defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final, it could go some way to help ease the pain the club suffered.

"
Winning the FA Cup would never erase the memory of that. We think we should have been there, so it's going to be hard," Cole remarked.

"
We have to forget about that and concentrate on the final, because we do have to win a trophy, and the FA Cup is a great trophy to win."
