Hull City Chairman Wants Full Investigation Into Fabregas Spitting Row
The post FA Cup semi-final fracas is rapidly descending into Spitgate as the sleuthing gets underway...
There is no doubt in Hull City chairman Paul Duffen's mind that something untoward happened between Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas and Tigers assistant manager Brian Horton following their FA Cup semi-final exit at the hands of the Gunners.
Duffen was purposely careful with his words but the suggestion was that he believes very much that the young Spanish midfielder spat at Horton during the post-match celebrations - an allegation which Fabregas fiercely denies.
"Without a doubt, something happened," Duffen told Sky Sports News.
"Unfortunately, I can't say too much about it now because the FA have launched an enquiry and I am sure they will find out exactly what happened and establish what needs to be done as a result of that.
"As far as we are concerned, we know what happened. Many members of our staff and team know what happened, so we welcome the enquiry totally.
"It is a very simple thing, it is cause and effect and it needs to be sorted out. I am very happy the FA have launched an enquiry."
That was not the only controversy of the day, as Arsenal's winner came courtesy of a dramatic late goal by William Gallas, who appeared to be in an offside position when heading the ball home.
On that note, Duffen concluded, "To have it stolen from us from what is undoubtedly an offside goal hurts. But that is football and we are big boys, and we move on."
