It looked like their road blues were set to be lifted after they took the lead through Mladen Petric, but a second-half equalizer by Cicero followed by a controversial winner by Domovchiyski completely turned the game on its head.

"It is a very bitter defeat because we were all over them in the first half," commented Jol.

"As the linesman raised his flag before they scored I thought the game had been stopped," the Dutchman said over the winner. "Sadly it hadn't.

"At the end the referee only played two minutes of injury time despite all of those substitutions which was wrong," he concluded with a snarl.

HSV will now be looking to set aside their disappointment and reignite their title charge with a good result at home to Werder Bremen next weekend.
