The 23-year-old midfielder was one of the fleetingly brilliant Netherlands' top performers at Euro 2008 this summer and has inevitibly been linked with a big money move, with Newcastle leading the chase.
Indeed, the Magpies have headaches in the middle of the field, where the strain has been on veteran Nicky Butt, with bad-boy Joey Barton's future uncertain.
However, in light of the rumours versatile De Jong has reisterated his commitment to Bundesliga side HSV and has thus distanced himself from a switch to St James' Park.
He told Spox: "I am with HSV now and I'm only concentrating on the new season. Everything else, even if there's other offers, does not interest me.
"Sure, if you have a good European Championship then it's easy to get offers, but it's not important to me.
"I am only focused on HSV."
