Villarreal are preparing to make another bid to prise Ignacio Camacho away from Atlético de Madrid after seeing their efforts rebuffed in the summer to sign him.

The prodigious 18-year-old is one of los Colchoneros' star youngsters and has been praised since breaking into Javier Aguirre's first team squad last term for his determined performances.

At the end of last term, Villarreal made enquiries and were told that Camacho was not available under any circumstances and they turned their attention elsewhere, but things have changed.

Atleti signed Paulo Assunção and Éver Banega before the season began and that left the youngster down the pecking order at Vicente Calderón and he has yet to make a single appearance this campaign.

Reports suggest that Camacho has become disillusioned with life at the club he joined from Real Zaragoza three years ago and he will look to find a different side in the January transfer window.

Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini has made it clear that he would have plenty of chances at El Madrigal, but they woujld not be alone should Atleti show that they are unable to keep the player.

Deportivo, Espanyol and even Real Zaragoza have made noises about entering any race to snap up the midfielder who is tipped as one of the country's most promising stars.
