European Golden Shoe Weekly Update: No Goals For Barcelona Star Lionel Messi & Real Madrid Attacker Cristiano Ronaldo

Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Theofanis Gekas was the only player from the top five who found the net at the weekend...
Barcelona hammered Espanyol 5-1 at the weekend, but star player Lionel Messi failed to find the net in the Blaugrana's emphatic victory. Luckily for the Argentina star, Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo didn't score either on Sunday, meaning that both players still sit joint first with 34 points.

Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Theofanis Gekas is closing in on a podium spot following his winner in Frankfurt's 1-0 win over Bundesliga table toppers Borussia Dortmund at the weekend. The experienced Greek striker has now accumulated 28 points.

Lille's Moussa Sow was unable to build on his impressive form in the past couple of weeks and didn't add to his tally at the weekend against Nancy, while Freiburg hitman Papiss Cisse didn't play on Sunday due to suspension.

The biggest winner of the weekend was Bayern Munich attacker Mario Gomez. The Germany international netted a hat-trick to help the Bavarians to a 5-3 win over Stuttgart and has now scored 12 goals this term.
