Belgian powerhouse Standard Liege have received some disappointing news from the treatment table in the aftermath of their 2-2 league draw against rivals Club Brugge at the weekend.
First choice shot stopper Sinan Bolat picked up a knee injury during the match and was forced to leave the pitch after 44 minutes of play due to the knock.
The 22-year-old glovesman underwent further examination on Wednesday and a scan has revealed that Bolat has damaged the ligaments of his right knee.
A report on the Standard Liege website reads that Bolat will undergo surgery on Friday. The Turkish international is expected to be unavailable for at least three months as a result.
Bolat will probably be replaced by Kristof van Hout during his absence.
