Europa League hopefuls Shakhtar Donetsk have completed the transfer of Brazilian youngster Alex Teixeira from Vasco da Gama for a reported fee of €6 million.

The highly rated youngster has signed a five-year deal with the Ukrainians.

"I know that my new team are UEFA Cup holders. Not many clubs are able to win it. I will do my best to help Shakhtar. I hope that adaptation will be easy for me. Some of my compatriots have played here for many years and they will help me to adapt to this new country," said Teixeira at a press conference.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder won't be the only Brazilian at the Shakhtar. Teixeira will join his compatriots Jadson, Fernandinho, Ilsinho, Willian and Luiz Adriano.

Teixeira recently impressed with some outstanding performances for Brazil at the Under-20 World Championships and had since been continually being linked with a move to Europe.
