"I can confirm that Bakero will take charge of the team until the end of the year. We will then discuss a contract extension," Ciszewski was quoted as saying by the PAP news agency.
Polonia currently sit second bottom of the table with four games of the campaign to go. The 46-year-old Bakero will be their sixth coach since January 2009.
Bakero was part of the Johan Cruyff-led Barca side which won four straight Liga titles and the 1992 European Cup. He has previously coached Malaga B, Real Sociedad and has been assistant coach at Valencia.
