Former Switzerland International Johann Vogel Retires From Professional Football
The Swiss midfielder has hung up his boots with immediate effect...
The 32-year-old started his professional career at Swiss outfit Grasshoppers and made well over 100 league appearances for the club between 1992-99.
His good performances at the Zurich side did not go unnoticed at PSV and Vogel joined the Eindhoven powerhouse in the summer of 1999. The 94-times capped Swiss international immediately developed into a key player at the Eredivisie side and left Holland for an adventure at AC Milan in 2005.
However, Vogel failed to make an impact at San Siro and moved on to Real Betis after only one season. His stay in Spain wasn't exactly successful either and the highly rated midfielder signed for English side Blackburn Rovers in 2008.
He left the Lancashire side in April 2009 and had been searching for a new club ever since. Nevertheless, Vogel has now decided to end his search for a new team and has hung up his boots with immediate effect.
