Official: Erik Hamren Appointed As New Sweden Coach
The Rosenborg coach has been appointed as Sweden's new chief after all...
A report earlier this week ruled out Hamren for the job, stating that the Swedish FA and Rosenborg had failed to reach an agreement on a release fee for the 52-year-old.
However, negotiations were apparently re-opened shortly after and both sides agreed terms on Wednesday. Hamren's contract with the Swedish FA stretches through 2013.
Under the agreement, the 52-year-old Swede will continue to lead Rosenborg until August 2010 when he will switch full-time to coaching Sweden. Until then, he will only be released for internationals.
Hamren replaces Lars Lagerback, who resigned last month after Sweden failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup.
