Hugo Rodallega is pleased to be moving from Mexican club Necaxa to Premier League side Wigan Athletic. The Colombian, who scored 15 goal in 36 games in the Mexican league last season, is on the verge of completing a £4.5 million switch, and is awaiting a work permit.
The application for the work permit will be heard next week, and the 23-year old striker full expects to be a Wigan player by January 15.
The prospect of playing alongside high quality players at the JJB is something that Rodallega is very much looking forward to.
"I am very motivated to be playing alongside such a talented group of players," he said earlier.
"I am very happy because a very good piece of news has been finally confirmed. This is one of my dreams coming true."
Wigan boss Steve Bruce has been intensively scouting strikers as it becomes increasingly likely that front-man Emile Heskey will soon be on his way out of the club.
Today, though, Bruce appears to have landed his man, with Rodallega's agent, Rosendo Duhart, confirming: "It is a fact. Hugo is joining Wigan on January 15."
