Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Manchester City have been linked with the Latics striker, who can also operate on the left, and now the JJB outfit have hinted that they could sell him in January.
Boss Steve Bruce runs the risk of losing him for nothing in the summer, as his contract will expire. Thus, he could be sold in the New Year in order to raise some funds.
Latics chairman Dave Whelan has admitted that Heskey is dithering over the prospect of inking a new deal and that the club would rather have the money than hold onto the experienced player till the summer.
"Emile is out of contract in the summer, but he doesn't want to sign a new one at the moment," Whelan revealed.
"It could cost us two, three or four million if that goes onto next summer, so we'll have to see what January brings."
