Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson is pulling a poker face and keeping his lips sealed as to the identity of his club's imminent new signing.
Megson is keen to strengthen his Wanderers squad, which has been hit by injury and suspension in recent weeks. The manager would also like to add more genuine quality to his side, but will not be drawn on the names of the players he has lined up.
"We get linked with four or five players a day but we know who we want," the Bolton boss told The Manchester Evening News earlier.
Bolton have been linked with two Manchester City players in Dietmar Hamann and Tal Ben Haim, though there are obstacles to signing both of them. Megson is likely to face competition for Bolton old boy Ben Haim from Blackburn Rovers, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland, while Hamann's decision to reject the Trotters in 2006 could count against him.
Wanderers had a £3 million bid for West Bromwich Albion's Scotland international midfielder James Morrison turned down last week, but may return with an improved offer shortly. Wigan Athletic's Ryan Taylor is another reported midfield target.
Queens Park Rangers star Mikele Leigertwood is also being monitored by Megson, while striker Kevin Davies could be set for a move from the Reebok Stadium, with Spurs and Blackburn being linked with the target man.
