The Trotters head into their last match of the season after a wild night of celebrations on Monday, after they all but secured Premier League survival with a 2-0 win over Sunderland last weekend.

Sir Alex Ferguson has lambasted Wanderers, claiming their early celebrations may make them lax for Sunday’s game, but Cahill is adamant that he and his team-mates will be calm yet sharp.

Relaxed

"It has been a very tense six months, but we will be a lot more relaxed than in recent games," he said. "And players can do things more naturally when they are relaxed.

"Chelsea haven't lost at home for years and that takes the pressure off us even more. Sooner or later that run will be broken and it could be us. Nobody expects that but sometimes being underdogs does you a favour.

"We tend to do well against big sides, we raise our game. We beat United earlier in the season which was a massive result for us."

Enough

Bolton hold an 11-goal superiority in goal difference over Reading, meaning Wanderers can only be demoted if they are thrashed by Chelsea while the Royals trounce already relegated Derby County.

Hence, Cahill is confident of dodging the drop this time around.

"There is a clear goal difference between us and other teams at the bottom," he said. "We are confident we have done enough to stay up."

Repeat

Former Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka is ineligible to feature for the Blues, but Didier Drogba will certainly start up top for what may be his last league game at Stamford Bridge.

Cahill has tamed the Ivorian before, and is confident of doing so again as the Trotters seek to end Chelsea’s four-year unbeaten at home.

"I played against Drogba for Aston Villa and we drew 0-0. I would take that again," he said. "Drogba has the all-round game but you shouldn't forget he has tremendous quality around him with the likes of Joe Cole and Michael Ballack."
