Fifa continue battle against racism

A committee have met to talk about plans to fight the problem in the sport and aim to present their findings in May
Fifa's strategic committee, chaired by the organisation’s president Sepp Blatter, met today to discuss racism in football and the best way to combat it.
There have been a number of high-profile incidents involving racism in the sport lately and the committee plan to put forward their proposals at the Fifa congress in May.
“Today, the members of the strategic committee showcased once more the united front of the football community in our zero tolerance policy against racism and match manipulation. I am very pleased with the ideas that have evolved today and look forward to the deliberations with the executive committee next month,” said Blatter.
The governing body went on to reinforce its stance on the subject which is outlined in their statutes.
“Discrimination of any kind against a country, private person or group of people on account of ethnic origin, gender, language, religion, politics or any other reason is strictly prohibited and punishable by suspension or expulsion.”
Match-fixing, doping and goal-line technology were among the other topics being discussed.
