Sampdoria general director Beppe Marotta wanted to reassure the fans that the club are doing all they can during the transfer window to strengthen the team.

He also spoke about two possible targets of the Blucerchiati, Giampaolo Pazzini and Mario Balotelli, but he did not sound very optimistic about their arrival.

"I tell the fans to remain calm as we will do our best," declared the Doriani's director to La Republica. "We know what we must do and we shall succeed

"Pazzini? I've known him for years and I would sign him straight away, but Fiorentina expects €9 million and I cannot arrive to this amount. Balotelli? I'm in constant contact with Inter

"We're also ready to extend (Angelo) Palombo's contract and change his salary, putting it on the level of the main players, but without going over our parameters."

Sampdoria have been disappointing this season, obtaining 19 points from 16 games played. They sit just five points above the relegation zone, and well shy of a UEFA Cup place.
