Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has blasted the Italian justice system following the outcome of the GEA scandal involving Luciano Moggi.
The former Juventus transfer chief and disgraced Calciopoli mastermind escaped a jail term on Thursday after he was handed a suspended sentence for his part in the GEA scandal.
Many will remember Moggi being accused of 'violence, bribery and intimidation' when he signed up players to the GEA football agency.
The former Juventus man was set to go to jail, but Judges slapped him with an 18 month suspended sentence instead for a pardon he recieved during the Calciopoli affair in 2006.
Nevertheless, Zamparini has heckled the sentence and he believes that the Italian justice system is laughable.
"Italy is a country which really is laughable," Zamparini is quoted as saying on Tuttomercatoweb.com.
"As a result, even the trials and sentences are laughable. I am not surprised by the sentence; it would have been a scandal if the opposite sentence was given."
Publicity Stunt
Juventus chief Giovanni Cobolli Gigli insisted that his club should be given back their two revoked Scudetti after the GEA trial, but Zamparini has slammed him, too.
"Cobolli Gigli's words are just a publicity stunt," concluded the fiery chief.
Zamparini was quick to shoot down the club, but he seems to forget his praise for the Bianconeri after he sold Amauri to them in the summer.
Furthermore, reports back in July suggested that the mafia had some involvement with Palermo over the Amauri deal, but this was quickly denied by the Sicilians.
