The Sicilians lost 2-0 to Inter on Saturday and Nerazzurri ‘keeper Julio Cesar had a somewhat quiet night, as Fabrizio Miccoli failed to spark his side into life and Uruguayan Edison Cavani proved once again that he is too immature to fill Amauri’s boots at the Stadio Barbera.

After chief Maurizio Zamparini fired Stefano Colantuono, it seemed that new boss Davide Ballardini would be able to revitalize the team, but the Palermitani have been far too inconsistent in recent weeks and seriously risk being drawn into the mires of the relegation battle.

“It’s true that we have to look around and add to our squad,” Sabatini told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We don’t have enough cover in some positions and are monitoring both the European and international markets.”

There were rumours last week that the Sicilian capital club might revive their interest in Internacional hitman Nilmar, but it was also alleged that they could reel in unsettled Inter star Adriano.

Zamparini rushed to quash the whispers regarding L’Imperatore, but the former Lazio executive does not completely rule out a loan move.

“I totally agree with what the president said about him, but we are prepared to embrace him. However, I cannot say more…” concluded Sabatini.
