The Rosanero have made wholesale changes to their team this summer, offloading the likes of Andrea Barzagli, Cristian Zaccardo and Amauri, and bringing in Marco Amelia, Davide Lanzafame and Antonio Nocerino among others.
Palermo had a disappointing start to the season on Saturday, losing 3-1 at Udinese in a game where they looked limp in attack.
Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has promised fans that he will try and sign a quality foreign striker before the transfer window closes, and a big bid has been tabled for Internacional striker Nilmar.
“We have an offer of around €16m from Palermo and we are considering it,” the Brazilian club’s spokesman Fernando Carvalho has declared.
“The usual decision would be to not unbalance the squad and I also don't think there is time for a transfer to be completed.”
Nilmar, 24, enjoyed European football in 2004 when he played for Lyon, but he failed to make his mark at Stade Gerland and was loaned out to Corinthians a year later.
Having signed for Internacional in 2007, he has found his feet once again, and he is now said to be keen for a new experience in the old continent.
