Rangers forward Kris Boyd has revealed he had strong thoughts about leaving Rangers last summer before deciding to remain at Ibrox.

The former Kilmarnock striker was the Gers’ top goalscorer last season, bagging 25 goals in all competitions.

But he still found himself being regularly left out of the side in big matches, particularly in Europe as his side superbly progressed to the final of the Uefa Cup.

Indeed, Boyd started a mere two games out of Rangers’ 19 fixtures on the continent last season.

Cardiff City made a £2.5 million bid for his services during the summer and the player has admitted he considered moving to pastures new, but decided to stay on.

"I thought maybe my time was up and I'd have to move on," the 25-year-old said to BBC Sport.

"I thought about it over the summer but decided to give it another shot. I didn't want to walk away and give up on the club I love as easy as that.

"I've always wanted to play here and be a part of success. I got a taste of that last season and want more this year."

Boyd’s decision now looks like a wise one with 13 goals already bagged this season – more than double of what any of his team-mates have managed.
