Milan signed Massimo Donati from Atalanta in 2001, but he managed just a few appearances in a Diavoli shirt and was loaned out to a number of Italian clubs until 2007, when he opted to try his hand in the Scottish Premier League by joining Celtic.
He had a positive start to life in Scotland last term, but he struggled to hold down a regular starting shirt in the second part of the season, which he mostly spent warming the bench, and he looked set to return to 'the Boot' over the summer, but no concrete offers materialized.
Now, it looks like the Via Turati directors are pondering to bring him back to base to cope with the long-term injury occurred to Gennaro Gattuso, who is expected to remain on the sidelines for at least six months.
“It all depends on what Celtic decide,” Donati was quoted as saying in The Sunday Post.
“I have not talked to Milan yet, but I know that my agents have been approached. Italy is my home country and it is difficult to turn down the Rossoneri.”
Ilcalciomercato.it alleges that the Diavoli are keen to sign the 27-year-old on a six-month loan deal.
