Wayne Routledge has made only one appearance in the Premier league this season, and that as subsitute.
As a result, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has agreed to move on loan to Championship club Cardiff City, joining fellow Premier League loanee Michael Chopra at Ninian Park.
Striker Chopra joined the Bluebirds on loan from Sunderland earlier this month.
Routledge has struggled to make an impression at Villa since signing for £1.25 million from Tottenham Hotpsur in January of this year. Routledge also struggled to make an impact at White Hart Lane, though he wasn't helped by unfortunately breaking his foot on his debut for the North London club.
He subsequently played most of his football whilst at Spurs on loan, at Portsmouth and Fulham. The most successful sepll of his career came whilst he was at Crystal Palace, for whom he made 110 appearances between 2001 and 2005, scoring 11 goals.
This latest loan spell in Wales will give him the chance to play for some first team football and, if not impress Martin O'Neill, at least put himself in the shop window for when the transfer window reopens in January.
