The Swiss manager admits his side have a long way to go before they hit top form, while revealing he hopes to see more from his new signing in the coming months

Borussia Monchengladbach manager Lucien Favre has admitted his side have a long way to go to reach optimal performance despite a 2-1 opening day victory over TSG Hoffenheim.

Borussia Park witnessed a late Juan Arango free-kick secure all three points for the home side, yet the Swiss tactician left the game demanding more from his team and new signing Granit Xhaka.

When quizzed about his midfielder's showing in the post-match press conference, Favre remarked: "He still has much, much, much to do, but he knows, and I explained to him, that he has a lot to do."

Xhaka, however, told Der Western "Earlier today, I have made amends for my mistakes from the game against [Dinamo] Kiev."
