Hertha Boss Admits Schalke Superiority
Hertha Berlin coach Lucien Favre had no qualms about heaping praise on Schalke after his side's 1-0 loss on the weekend.
Although neither team put on an especially convincing performance, Schalke took more shots than Hertha by a ratio of more than 3:1, and won possession by nearly 2:1 and clearly did more for the victory.
"Schalke deserved to win," acknowledged Favre after the game. "They were much the better side.
"We lost possession too often and easily. We tried to go through the middle instead of using the wings.
"The ball kept coming back like a boomerang. We have to put that right as soon as possible.
"We accept that we lost against a very very good side here today."
Hertha Berlin have slipped to fourth place in the Bundesliga following a 1-0 defeat away to Schalke, who jumped from ninth to sixth.
