Mexico On Verge Of Sacking Sven-Goran Eriksson Following United States Defeat
The former England manager could be on his way to Pompey should El Tri give him the chop...
According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mail, Sven-Goran Eriksson is close to losing his job as head coach of the Mexican national team after a 2-0 loss to the United States.
Two goals from midfielder Michael Bradley earned the US all three points and, perhaps more importantly, condemned El Tri to a third defeat in their last four CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.
The 61-year-old Swede has now guided Mexico to just one win in their last seven games, and their latest disappointment leaves them bottom of the final qualifying stage for the World Cup, albeit with only one match played.
While the news may not be so good for Mexican fans, it may be more welcomed by Portsmouth supporters.
The former England and Manchester City manager has been linked with the vacancy at Fratton Park following Tony Adams' departure and, should Eriksson get the axe, speculation is likely to increase over a potential return to the Premier League.
