Middlesbrough Fail With Bid For Reading's James Harper - Report
It seems that Boro were unwilling to meet the Royals' valuation of the midfielder...
According to a report in the British broadsheet The Times, Middlesbrough have been unsuccessful with their bid to take Reading midfielder James Harper to the Riverside Stadium.
It was thought that Boro would land the former Arsenal trainee having missed out on Crystal Palace's Ben Watson, who instead opted to sign for Wigan Athletic.
Recent reports had suggested that Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate would be allowed to spend the £5 million Reading have said the player will cost.
However, it is now claimed that Harper, who captained the Royals during their goalless draw with Queens Park Rangers this afternoon, will be staying put at the Madejski Stadium as Boro are not willing to meet that valuation.
