Newcastle United Target Wigan Athletic's Ryan Taylor
The Magpies hope to see off competition from Blackburn and Bolton for the right-back...
Newcastle United manager Joe Kinnear has identified Wigan Athletic's Ryan Taylor as the player to boost his options down the right side of the pitch, according to a report in British tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror.
The 24-year-old's contract is due to expire at the end of the season and he is yet to agree a new deal as it is thought that he is keen on a move away from the JJB Stadium.
The Magpies are ready to pay £1 million to take him to St. James' Park this January.
Although both Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers have been attributed with holding an interest in the right-back, who can also play in midfield, it is believed he would favour a switch to the Toon Army.
The Liverpool-born defender, who began his career with Tranmere Rovers, has made 67 appearances for the Latics since 2005, scoring seven goals.
