Bolton Boss Megson Scoops First Monthly Managerial Award
The Trotters' boss has been named Barclays Premier League Manager of The Month for November...
The Bolton Wanderers manager led the Trotters on a run of form that saw them pick up twelve points from a possible fifteen in the Barclays Premier League during the month, including three wins out of three away from the Reebok Stadium.
Mired in the relegation zone at the start of November, Bolton defeated Manchester City 2-0 at home before a remarkable display from goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskalainen at the KC Stadium saw Wanderers overcome Hull City thanks to a Matthew Taylor goal.
The return to form of Swedish striker Johan Elmander saw Megson’s side recover from a 2-0 home defeat against Liverpool by claiming the North-East scalps of Middlesbrough (3-1) at the Riverside and Sunderland (4-1) at the Stadium of Light to carry Bolton up to ninth in the table at the end of the month.
The award is Megson’s first in the Barclays Premier League, where he had previously managed Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion before his appointment at Bolton Wanderers in November 2007.
The decision was made by the Barclays Awards Panel, which includes representatives from football’s governing bodies, the media and fans.
