Player Ratings: Liverpool 0-0 West Ham United
A drab goal-less draw at Anfield can quite feasibly be summed up with motifs of clean intercepting, wayward shooting, and relentless calls for handballs.
LIVERPOOL
Reina: 7.0 -
Collected easily as most shots fired at him were hit at half pace. Distributed well.
Arbeloa: 7.0 -
Got forward well from the wing back position and linked the defence with the attack.
Carragher: 6.5 -
Grew into the game as the match wore on. Tried to drive his team forward from the back. Made key last ditch defending late in the game.
Hyppia: 7.5 -
Strong in the air. Was a threat from set pieces in West Ham's third.
Dossena: 6.5 -
Good covering when his defensive partners roamed forward.
Benayoun: 5.5 -
Wildly lashed at the ball when given the opportunity to take shots.
Gerrard: 6.0 -
Not often you can say this about the Reds captain, but went for a ball and ended up lashing at air. Was ineffective in attack, made the occasion good run and got himself into okay positions.
Alonso: 7.0 -
Gerrard tried to tee up the Spaniard who fired in a bullet-like shot that was wide of the marker. Tried a long shot that was tamely hit.
Riera: 6.5 -
Not as effective in the cross as he had been earlier in the season.
Kuyt: 7.5 -
Good effort. Dropped deep in order to make things happen for Keane who played further up field. Sent in dangerous box bound balls but all too often there would be no one on the end of them.
Keane: 5.5 -
Played a high line and was isolated. Spooned his shots and was replaced in the second half.
Substitutions:
N'gog: 5.0; Babel: n/a.
WEST HAM UNITED
Green: 8.0 -
Wild early punching made things harder for himself. But made some good saves to ensure the clean sheet. Diverted shots with his hands and feet.
Neill: 7.0 -
Solid. Tracked back well and contained the threat of Riera with relative ease.
Collins: 7.0 -
Is forming a good understanding with Upson, and stayed strong when N'gog came on with assured tackling and admirable blocking.
Upson: 7.5 -
Another good performance from the burgeoning England international. Solid interceptions.
Ilunga: 6.0 -
Average.
Faubert: 6.5 -
Smart forward runs from the Frenchman, arriving in the box from the centre.
Parker: 7.0 -
His shots lacked power but he roamed forward when his side were in possession and took the game to Liverpool late in the game.
Mullins: 6.5 -
Rough play to begin with and was duly cautioned in the first half. Tried to test Riera.
Behrami: 5.0 -
Okay wideplay and won corners, but was hardly on the ball.
Bellamy: 7.5 -
His pace and creation posed numerous problems for his former side. The Welshman will be happy with his performance but may rue his missed chance.
Cole: 6.5 -
Had few efforts on goal. His best efforts arrived from set piece. His best header lacked direction though. Was strong in the air.
