Mazzarri Only Partly Satisfied
Sampdoria coach Walter Mazzarri was happy with the 3-2 home victory against Lecce, but thought the team should have suffered less.
Following the hard-fought 3-2 home victory against Lecce, Sampdoria coach Walter Mazzarri was only partly satisfied as his team were made to suffer until the end.
"Sometimes we complicate things for ourselves, we could have handled this match better once we went 2-0 up," he said. "Then there was that hand ball on [Simone] Tiribocchi's second goal that wasn't seen, which kept the match open until the end."
After a poor start to the season, it looks like Samp are getting back to the levels of last season, when they finished 6th.
"We have always been playing well, but we often failed to get what we deserved, like last week in Naples, where we did not deserve to lose," Mazzarri added.
Sampdoria are currently in 14th place with 13 points, while Lecce are one position below with one point less.
