The youngster, who recently helped La Rojita to their sixth Under-19 European Championship, is raring to go after being promoted to train with the Rojiblancos first teamOliver Torres is thrilled at having been called up by Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone to join up with the club's senior side for their pre-season preparations.
The starlet, fresh from winning the Under-19 European Championship with Spain, is hopeful that he will be able to rack up some first-team appearances following his breakthrough.
"After winning the European youth championship, Simeone came up to me and told me to introduce myself to the first-team," he told Spanish newspaper AS. "I did as he said, feeling like a child again.
"If I have done something to catch his attention then the rest is now in my hands. I hope that, one day, I can get his trust and prove that I am ready for the step up.
"I've had the opportunity to leave in the past, but stayed because all I want is to succeed at Atletico Madrid. The players I model myself on are Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta."
The 17-year-old had played an integral part in leading La Rojita to their sixth European Championship title on Sunday.
